Our new center to be used to welcome newly arriving refugees from Afghanistan

As the US military has now fully exited Afghanistan as of August 31, thousands of Afghan interpreters and families feeling the Taliban will be arriving in cities across the USA, and especially where Afghans already live. Local refugee resettlement agencies are expecting hundreds of families to be resettled in San Diego and El Cajon, and many families are already arriving. Bridge Builders Network seeks to serve and support local faith communities, non profits, and the Afghan community in their efforts to welcome these new families by coming along side them in their transition to a new life and by building lasting friendships that bring hope.

Good News!

Being recipient to some one-time grants during the Covid-19 Pandemic has enabled us to rent a space in El Cajon which we are calling THE LEARNING CENTER. We are currently in the process of furnishing the Center and hope to be ready to host programs and events by mid August. The Learning Center will be the home of our Syrian Youth Tutoring and Mentoring Program, our Citizenship Classes, Creative Art Programs, training sessions, and meetings. We believe that this is happening because of the prayers and support of many friends whom God has put on their hearts to see us care for refugees who have become our neighbors. God is good!

Spring Update

As the grip of the pandemic is easing somewhat, we are re-launching our in-person citizesnship classes for Syrian newcomers who are elgible to apply for citizesnship this year. This past November we halted these classes due to the pandemic. We are currently in a season of various training sessions for our volunteers and Associates this spring, and planning an outreach to our Syrian friends during Ramadan. Our English Friends Program continues to attract new participants. We continue to reach out to families in Syria with food packages and medical help through our Hope For Vulnerable Families Program and are looking for sponsors to enable us to provide financial help for families in crisis. We are hoping to soon launch a small school for 60 young children where there is no school.

We are expanding to Texas

Bridge Builders Network now has Associates in Ft Worth, Texas and soon will have an active and experienced team joining us in Austin. We look forward to the many opportunities that await us as we engage with our Associates and team in Austin as they build bridges with their Muslim neighbors. Details will follow in January. For more information about our work expanding to Texas feel free to write us at info@bridgebuildersnetwork.org.

For the past 4 years we have held Christmas celebrations with our Syrian friends. This year we will adapt but continue loving our neighbors and sharing the birth of Messiah & Savior with them. We have now over 100 families that we know and love and plan to deliver to them a hot Middle Eastern meal during Christmas Week. Please email us If you are interested in being involved in the deliveries or help with the costs, and we will contact you with details.
